Whitfield is PTL Employee of the Year
Jamie Whitfield of Toccoa was named the 2019 PTL Equipment Employee of the Year at the Company’s Christmas party on Friday, Dec. 13. PTL president Jon Heffer and the 2018 Employee of the Year award recipient John Buchanan, presented the award to Whitfi eld. The employees of the elevator fi xture manufacturing company vote on the annual award and were asked to give reasons for their decision based on specifi c criteria and fulfi llment of the vision of the company. One employee’s reason for voting for Whitfi eld was he “is dependable and dedicated to whatever he does.” Another employee said Jamie is “willing to do what is needed to offer our customers the best lead time and products in our industry.” Another employee recognized Whitfi eld’s desire to go the extra mile with an excellent work ethic. Whitfield has been an employee at PTL for over four years and works in the sheet metal department. At the company Christmas party, employees enjoyed a meal and recognized employees with a plaque for their years of service to PTL Equipment. Travis Clark was recognized for fi ve years of service. Mary Stewart was recognized for 15 years of service, and Lisa Bryant was recognized for 20 years of service.
The SCDA is responsible for the recruitment of new businesses including industrial, manufacturing, distribution, corporate and regional headquarters and customer service centers. It also provides support and assistance with all other types of economic development projects.
The SCDA also works with existing businesses and industries to ensure their continued success. While recruitment of new industry is a significant function, aiding in existing industry expansion and retention is just as significant. About 80 percent of all new jobs in Georgia come as a result of existing industry expansion.
